Standards-based Report Card

Dear Parents,

The standards-based report card continues to be an important communication tool used to report and inform you on your child’s academic growth.  This report card helps you understand your child’s current performance in the Branford Public School System.

Our standards based report card clearly states what students are expected to learn and be able to do.  After students have had the opportunity to learn, we examine their work to determine their overall grade.

Grades will be given three times a year: December, March, and June.   Below is the grading scale used to reflect achievement of standards:

Academic Performance Level for Elementary Subjects

4 - Exceeds Standard

3 -Consistently Demonstrates the standard

2- Making Progress toward the standard

1-Does Not Meet Standard

NE - Not Evaluated at this Time

The number “3” means that your child has met and continues to meet the expectations for that part of the curriculum for that grade level.   A “2” means that your child is making progress.  Therefore, in December and March, a grade of “2” is something to be celebrated.  This means your child is progressing, learning and growing.

We want you as a partner in your child’s education.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact your child’s teacher.

Sincerely,

Raeanne Reynolds

Principal

Mary T. Murphy School
